Install the plugin

MembershipPortal for WordPress brings your organization's memberships, public events, publications, and benefits into your existing website. MembershipPortal continues to manage membership records and billing.

1. Download the plugin ZIP using the link above.
2. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin. Choose the ZIP, install it, and activate MembershipPortal.
3. If an older version is already installed, upload the new ZIP and choose to replace the existing plugin.
4. Open MembershipPortal in the WordPress sidebar to begin the connection.

Connect your organization

Each website has its own connection. Use the website address shown by the plugin so member sign-in returns to the correct WordPress installation.

1. In WordPress, open MembershipPortal and copy the website address and sign-in callback shown in the connection settings.
2. In your organization workspace, open Organization settings → Connected services → WordPress and create a connection for that website.
3. Copy the private connection code into the MembershipPortal connection field in WordPress, then choose Connect and import memberships.
4. Review the imported membership tiers and benefits before adding blocks or access rules.
5. In the portal's website connection, choose Benefits this website may describe publicly and approve any benefit descriptions you want to display to visitors.

Add membership blocks

Open a page in the WordPress block editor, add a block, and search for MembershipPortal. Select the block to configure it in the Block sidebar.

• Membership options shows available choices and links visitors to the portal to join.
• Membership benefits displays the benefit descriptions approved for this website. Select benefits in the sidebar to narrow the list; leaving the selection empty shows all approved benefits.
• Latest publications and Organization events display public catalog information, with sidebar choices for what the block includes.
• Member sign-in & renewal gives visitors a path to sign in, join, or renew.
• My membership provides a personal welcome and portal links. Choose whether to show membership names, status, renewal dates, and available benefits.
• Member content protects blocks placed inside it. Protected download provides a membership-checked download link.

Protect content and preview access

Choose who may see a page or section, then check the visitor and member experience before publishing.

1. For a page or post, open MembershipPortal · Who can see this? Choose signed-in members, active members, selected membership tiers, or selected benefits as appropriate.
2. For part of a page, put the relevant blocks inside Member content and configure its access choices. Use the plugin settings for broader content-type and topic rules.
3. Customize the access heading, teaser, and button labels where needed. The message adapts to visitors, expired members, and members missing the required access.
4. Open MembershipPortal · Preview access and choose a visitor, current member, expired member, or a custom selection of memberships and benefits.
5. Review the preview's access explanations, including both the whole-page rule and any protected sections.

Configure navigation and events

Help visitors find public activities and give members navigation that fits their access.

• In classic menus or Navigation block links, use the MembershipPortal visibility controls to choose who sees an item. Automatic account links show sign-in or member account and sign-out actions as appropriate.
• Protect the destination page as well as its menu item. Hiding a link does not restrict access to its address.
• On an Organization events block, enable interactive controls and choose the starting list or calendar view. Visitors can search, filter, browse additional results, and move between months within the events allowed by the block settings.
• Add to calendar downloads an event calendar file that visitors can open in their calendar application.

Match your website's appearance

Open MembershipPortal → Design & messages for shared defaults. Use each block's sidebar to adjust the controls available for that block.

• Choose an accent color, button appearance, spacing, columns, and corner radius.
• Set optional headings and choose which supported details appear.
• Edit the sign-in button text on both Member sign-in & renewal and My membership.
• Preview the page at desktop and mobile widths, including its signed-out access message.

Maintain the connection and solve common problems

The plugin checks current membership access and can renew the connection for up to 14 days while the WordPress session remains active. Signing out or disconnecting the website ends that access.

• If Membership benefits says there is nothing to share, first approve public benefit descriptions in the portal's website connection, then review the block's selected benefits and choose Check connection & refresh catalog in WordPress.
• If a member cannot open content, check their current membership and benefit access in MembershipPortal, then compare those results with the WordPress page and section rules.
• If sign-in fails, confirm the website address and callback match the registered connection and that the site uses HTTPS.
• Use Replace connection code in the portal when credentials need replacing, then reconnect WordPress with the new code. Use Disconnect to revoke the website's connection and member sessions.
• Install future plugin releases from WordPress Updates. Downloads are verified against the published package checksum.
